Why do women incessantly complain about their boyfriends if they're not going to do anything about it?

It seems young girls, or girls that lack a sense of sophistication/ maturity, go after these guys that can/are total *****, or braindead just because they like the feeling of having a good looking confident guy around them to take care of them. They complain to guys they aren't honestly interested in (perhaps because they are too superficial to be seen with the guy they complain to, but aren't willing to admit it, hence say "if things were different..." _because they can complain to them, confess and not feel like they are being dishonest to their badboyfriend (because being dishonest goes against their morals/ they don't want to be considered or feel like badgirlfriends)
