What should I say to my coach for missing a practice?

Tomorrow I am going back to my home town for a day to see a DJ play at a club and I need an excuse to tell my coach why I wont be there. I've never missed a practice unlike some, so what could I possibly say to him to let me off the hook? Should I leave him an e-mail or call him?
