Why is Doug Christies wife so Paranoid?

I always here about how shes always with him wherever he goes, and he blows her kisses on the court, when he is interviewed by a female reporter she has to be there with him. I mean there is just so much a guy can do..but is it really true that she is like that, and why would someone like such a needy person?
